WHEN BOGART WAS BELMONDO

Fascinated by the possibilities of streaming media I was playing with streaming loops short before I left the regular Pingfm sessions. This was a first conceptual looping test with footage from Jean-Luc Godard’s classic movie À bout de souffle. In the movie and especially in that sequence Jean-Paul Belmondo wants to be like Humphrey Bogart. Now in my film he really becomes he. But who becomes who? It is an identity crises…

The loop was created by sending a 20-second-video trough the internet to our Real Server let him converting the video and receiving it with another computer 20 seconds after sending. And then directly sending it again. At the end you see a copy of a copy of a copy… Short after this I used the method for Losing A Highway.
